Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty Lose In Semifinals As India Open Campaign Ends

The pair of double Indians of the campaign of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty at Open Super 750 India ended in the semi-finals after having undergone a defeat accordingly against Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin in Malaysia in New Delhi on Saturday. Satwik and Chirag, the 2022 champions, were outdated 18-21, 14-21 in just 37 minutes by the Malaysian duo in the world number 3, which produced a class act to derail the match plan of the Indian pair. “I think we should have closed in the first game, but recognize them, they were really good in service situations, which we did not really expect because we did not prepare for that. That said, we should have been a little quieter,” said Chirag after the loss.
“We did not really expect so many films in the match, especially from 15 to 12, then we received quite well, but I think we should have been a little quieter.” Satwik, who fell on the ground and seemed to twist his ankle, said he will have to take a look.
“Yeah, I think I have to check now. I think I went very badly,” said Satwik.
This marks a second consecutive semi-final for Satwik and Chirag this season, after their last eight arrivals at the Malaysia Open Super 1000 in Kuala Lumpur last week.
The Indian duo had also signed with a semi-final at the China Masters, their return event after the quarter-final release at the Paris Olympic Games.
The Indian pair started well, mixing the attack and the defense to carry out 6-9, but the Malaysians took control by demanding five of the following six points to take an advance at the break.
After the recovery, Satwik and Chirag briefly found the advantage, reaching 15-12. However, Goh and Izzuddin began to press the favorites of the net house and the errors began to slip.
The Malaysians therefore made a high return with a sequence of seven points, which saw them win the first match after an error of Smash from Satwik.
In the second match, Goh read the game well from the field before when visitors took a 5-0 lead. A beautiful return to a film film gave the Indians their first point. A Satwik jump smash reduced the deficit to 4-8.
Then, a good service and a net duel brought the Indians to 7-8. Chirag continued to serve well, but it was the Malaysians who once again entered the interval with an advance of 11-10.
The great Indians leveled the scoring at 13-13, but the Malaysians advanced with a three-point cushion at 17-14 when Chirag was warned for delayed. Soon the score was 20-14, after six consecutive points. The Malaysians sealed the match with a perfect ball service on the back line.
Goh and Nur, the third seeded, should face the Malaysia champions, Kim won Ho and Seo Seung Jae in Korea, who triumphed over the fifth head of Aaron Chia and Soh Woo Yik of Malaysia with scores of 22-20, 21-19, in the final.
On Sunday, the Olympic champion, a South Korea’s Young, will face the Thai pornpawee Chochuwong in the female final in simple, while the French duo of Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue will aim for their first Super 750 title against the second Chinese heads Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin.
