Maddock Films by Dinesh Vijan was one of the most coherent production banners in Bollywood, with a series of theatrical successes to his credit lately. According to a mid-day report, the Holdup lies in Vijan’s negotiations with streaming platforms, which have so far not met its expectations. “All these medium -sized films have various subjects with solid performance, containing the vision of the banner to provide diversified content,” cited the report. “But after having been ready for more than a year, they have faced delays because Dinen could not conclude an agreement with banners who stimulate these projects. He thinks that the films deserve a certain figure, but the platforms think that they are too expensive.”
The content of the films complies with the Maddock brand of offbeat but engaging narration. Pooja Meri JaanWith Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur, addresses the sensitive question of harassment. Rumi Ki Sharafatled by Radhikka Madan, is a social comedy, while Sarvagunn Sampanna is also in the space of cinema at a low budget and content.
The report also quoted an initiate saying: “If we look at him from the point of view of Dinesh, he is right. Maddock Films is able to wait. After the pandemic, the acquisition budgets have reduced. But Dinesh does not want to sell them at a price that does not do justice to their potential.”
For the moment, Vijan seems happy to wait what he believes to be a fair assessment.
