“Fitting That We Are Bottom”: CSK Coach Stephen Fleming Spares No One At Press Conference

In a frank admission of their pathetic race this IPL season, Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming said they deserved to finish at the bottom of the table, but promised to come back with “strong ideas”. One of the most coherent parts of the popular league, CSK five-time champions should end last behind the Royals of Rajasthan to whom they lost six counters on Tuesday in their penultimate IPL confrontation this season.
It is not a cricket view, fans are used to considering the enormous success of CSK in the past.
“No, we obviously do not know how to be here, but it is not a motivation. We just wanted a good performance. We are trying to chain certain performances together. The goal was two good performances (in the last two games).
“Now it will be a good one to finish. It is probably normal for us to be down. We have played this type of cricket, so you can’t hide,” said Fleming after the match.
The New Zealander said they knew the road to come and that the failure of first-rate strikers had played a huge role in the ordinary race.
“Our order is not just at this stage, and it is something that we always seek to revolve. We have solid ideas for next year, so all these facets are covered. But this was not possible this year due to the lack of races at the top.
“Many shot positions are determined by the way we have, then the guys can be aligned. We did not have that. So we simply repaired the sleeves, rather than building good sleeves,” he explained the reason behind the miserable race.
The ASHUL KAMBOJ stimulator has managed to impress this season with its rhythm and FLEMING thinks that it will be a good asset for India after its selection in a game for the tour in England.
“Its speeds were about 138, 139 (KPH). It is deceptive and the ball always seems to hit the harder gloves. Its great strength is its length and it just gets the ball to vacillate. You have seen this today on a reasonably flat counter and it will do this tower
“It will be an absolute handful. It has real potential with the white and red balloon. We are satisfied with its development and the opportunity it has seized this year.” The former Kiwi captain also spoke strongly about Matheesha Pathirana stimulation, but said the Lankais should improve more.
“We are waiting for great expectations towards him, which is why we have kept him. But he returns in a form. He was really out of shape. He has made improvements, but it is still not where we or he wanted. So there is room for him to obtain a form and obtain some confidence. During his last 10 IPL games, he succeeded 10 counters and went without a counter in five competitions.
“They have seen more of him. So now he has to explore what he has to do to be as effective as what he was for the first part of his career. It is a unique set of skills, but it was a little absent,” he said.
