By reacting to the latest developments, Dia Mirza criticized the role of the media in RHEA viliation throughout the investigation. In an Instagram post, she said: “Who in the media will have the grace to apologize written to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You have done a witch hunt. You have caused a deep anxiety and harassment just for TRP. Excuse yourself. This is the least you can do. “
The controversy surrounding Rhea intensified in September 2020, when she and her brother Showik were arrested by the NCB control office (NCB) as part of an investigation into drugs related to the case of Rajput. Despite spending for almost a month in prison, Rhea finally obtained a deposit, without any substantial evidence proving a criminal involvement.
Her lawyer, Sétah Maneshinde, also expressed her concerns about the media trial she faced. He described the incessant harassment they had to face, also declaring that she had undergone inhuman treatment. He also revealed that the family had undergone significant pressure and threats during the investigation, but remained determined to erase their names. Maneshinde also criticized the spread of disinformation during the pandemic, which suggests that the accent put by the media on the case was fueled by public demand for sensational news.
The final report submitted by the CBI mentioned that there was no evidence of reprehensible acts of Rhea or his brother Showik, or their family. The affair, which drew special attention, stems from the tragic death of Sushazing Singh Rajput in June 2020 in his residence in Mumbai.
The officially closed affair, public figures like Dia Mirza urge the media to recognize his role in the food of baseless allegations and to express excuses for Rhea and his family.
