Yuvraj Singh Given Entire Credit After Shubman Gill Becomes India Captain: “Greatest Cricket Brain…”




While Shubman Gill takes over the reins of the Test team from India before the highly anticipated series against England, the former cricket player Yograj Singh praised the people behind the young captain’s trip, his father and the great India Yuvraj Singh. Gill, who impressed through the formats by his composure and his technique, is now faced with the responsibility of directing India in the longest format. With the support of mentors like Yuvraj and the foundation posed by his father, expectations are raised for the 25 -year -old man while he begins this new chapter in his career.

Gill has become one of the youngest players to hold the position in recent years. Although it lacks experience in captain in red ball format, he led India during a T20i assignment of five games in Zimbabwe in 2024. Gill also captain of the Titans of Gujarat (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gill was also vice-captain in the ODI and T20is. He was the deputy of Rohit Sharma in the victorious campaign of the Champions Trophy in India in Water in February 2025. In Test Cricket, Gill played 32 games and scored 1893 points, including five centuries.
