“We Have Right Players”: Coach Michael Hussey Backs Chennai Super Kings Despite Derailing IPL 2025 Campaign

Michael Hussey, coach of Chennai Super Kings, launched his weight behind the current team despite a fifth consecutive defeat, insisting that the five -time champions have the “good players” and do not raise the white flag. CSK collapsed to an embarrassing eight -governing defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders here Friday after having recorded his lowest score with 103 chepauk for nine. “I always think we have the right players. We just have to try to help them find confidence and consistency, then I hope that we can somehow grow and build from this, whether with the bat, the ball or on the field,” Hussey told the media after the match.

“We talk a lot about the style of our game. But the players we have, we don’t want to ask them to play in a completely different way; it’s natural for them.

“They arrived at IPL for having played very well in their own way. I am certainly not the type to try to make them play in a different way. They play their best because that’s how they play,” he added.

Hussey rejected the suggestions that CSK stacked their team with players after their peak or hesitated to support young talents. The intermediate order of CSK includes the players of India Rahul Tripathi, Shivam Dube, Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda who have failed collectively this season.

“I would say that they are beyond their peak. I do not agree with this. We had players at the twilight of their career to play CSK in the past. I think of Shane Watson. I think of Ajinkya Rahane.” “They performed very well for CSK. I always think that players that we still have a good cricket in front of them and that we can offer ourselves a lot. We can find their best and see great performance from them.

“Regarding young people, we want to choose the guys when they are ready to play. We have very good players who are waiting for their luck. No questions on this subject.

“But sometimes, when the teams abandon and think:” We can no longer win the tournament. Well, we are just going to try young people now. “This is what we are still there to try to progress in the tournament as far as we can. We certainly do not put the white flag,” added Hussey.

The former Australia and CSK player said CSK hoped to find his way in the first four and be ready to scratch.

“You just have to get into this fourth place. In a long tournament like IPL, this is the momentum. Admittedly, the momentum is not with us at the moment.” “If we can change this momentum and bring confidence and get some victories on the board, confidence will grow. We never know, we could be able to scratch in one of these latter positions in the table of the eliminatory series.”

Hussey admitted that the CSK was lower than the part in the three aspects of the game. “We have certainly been lower than normal in the three facets of the game. (But) we are not completely out of it. We must remain tight, identify the areas that we can improve and come back to this horse as quickly as possible.”

“If we start to fracture, if we start to change things too much, which has certainly not been a CSK line in the past, then things can get worse before they improve. We have to do some soul research.”
