The filmmaker Anurag Kashyap brought a clarification following an increasing storm of social media on her controversial remarks on the Brahmans. The backlash comes from a comment he made in response to a user who wrote: “The Brahmans Tumhare Baap Hain …” (The Brahmans are your fathers), to whom Kashyap replied: “Brahmin pe Moom Mootonga .. problem koi?” (I’m going to urinate on the Brahmans … a problem?).

The declaration sparked a wave of indignation online, several users publishing threats of rape and death not only against Kashyap, but also for his daughter, friends and colleagues. In response, the filmmaker shared a note on social media clarifying his position and offering excuses – not for his words, but for the hateful consequences they have triggered. “These are my apologies, not for my message, but for this line withdrawn from its context and hatred of brewing,” he wrote on Instagram. “No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, friends and colleagues who get threats of rape and death from Sanskar pingis.”
Kashyap was held under his original comment, saying: “So Kahi Hui Baat wapis nahin li ja sakti aur na loonga lekin mujhe jo Gaali Dena Hai do. I said that I can’t be resumed, and I take them back.
